In occupied Crimea, the fate of Ukrainian citizen Maryna Ryff remains unknown after she disappeared in November 2025 following a visit to a migration office controlled by Russian authorities in Simferopol. The case was reported by the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, according to UNN.

According to the Crimean Human Rights Group, contact with the woman was lost on November 12, 2025, shortly after she visited one of the occupation migration offices. Maryna Ryff did not accept Russian citizenship and continued to use Ukrainian identification documents.

Later, human rights activists established that the so-called Kyiv District Court in Simferopol, operating under Russian control, sentenced her to 14 days of administrative detention. She was charged with “displaying extremist symbols” and “discrediting the Russian army.”

After serving the sentence, her relatives received no information about her further condition or whereabouts. They assume that Maryna Ryff may be held in one of the pre-trial detention centers in Simferopol.

The Crimean Human Rights Group believes that the persecution is linked to her openly pro-Ukrainian stance. According to their data, after the occupation of the peninsula she deliberately refused to obtain a Russian passport and publicly supported Ukraine despite pressure and threats.
