Raman Marusau
Biography
Raman Marusau (born April 19, 1996) is a locksmith from the Minsk district and a recognized political prisoner in Belarus. He was detained on March 23, 2021, after being accused of leaking information about a police officer to a Telegram channel. This act was classified as incitement to hatred under Article 130 of the Criminal Code.
On September 20, 2021, Judge Anzhalika Danilava sentenced him to 6 years in prison. In May 2022, the KGB added Marusau to its list of "terrorists," which prohibits him from receiving money transfers while in custody. He is also included in the official list of individuals involved in "extremist activities".
His time in detention has been marked by transfers and disciplinary measures. In late 2023, his detention regime was tightened, leading to his transfer to Prison No. 4. He has since been convicted again under Article 411 for "malicious disobedience" to prison authorities. Marusau is currently held in Penal Colony No. 9 in Horki.
