The Belarusian border regions of Mogilev and Gomel have become key transit points for unmanned aerial vehicles from both sides of the conflict. Due to their geographic location, Ukrainian drones are increasingly “cutting corners” through Belarusian territory on their way to targets in Russia (e.g., Saint Petersburg), while Russian drones are using the same route to strike targets in Ukraine.
Local sources report the constant presence of Russian “Geran” drones and Ukrainian “Liutyi” drones, which are visually indistinguishable at night. The situation is further complicated by intensive use of electronic warfare (EW) systems, as a result of which the airspace over southern and eastern Belarus is no longer fully under the control of civilian authorities.
